can my employer send me to jobs all over the country and expect me to pay for the transport costs ?
I work for a Scaffolding company and my employer sends me to jobs all over the country. To get to these jobs i have to use public transport which I have to pay for myself. To try to keep the costs down I will buy Weekly tickets only to be sent somewhere else halfway through the week so i will have to purchase another ticket. My employer refuses to help with these costs. He pays other workers for using their own cars so why can’t he help pay my travel costs. My employment contract does not stipulate that I need to own a car or that I will be expected to pay for trains every week. A s my employer is based in my home town, would I be within my rights to just turn up at his yard in the morning and for him to provide transport for me and my tools. Please help as I can’t keep this up…
What does it say in your contract of employment?
If you don’t like it, leave.
